We’re The Millers (2013) Review
This movie was a lot funnier than I expected it to be. In fact, I had heard so many terrible things about it, I almost skipped it altogether. I ended up watching it a couple nights ago with a friend though, because she wanted to see it and there was nothing else out that we were really dying to see.
If you enjoyed Bridesmaids (2011), then it’s likely you’ll enjoy this movie as well, as my friend and I both agreed after seeing this that the humor in this movie reminded us a lot about that one.
At first glance, this cast seems so random, but it’s funny how well they work together. You can just tell they had such a great time making this movie. Aside from maybe two extremely awkward moments that I personally didn’t think quite worked, the rest of the movie had my friend and I laughing for pretty much the whole duration. In fact, some of the parts I really didn’t want to laugh at, but I couldn’t help myself.
In terms of characters, I wasn’t completely sold on Jennifer Aniston as a stripper, but men out there might have a different opinion on it. Will Poulter totally nailed the socially awkward kid. One of the funniest characters had to be this extra though, that plays as Emma Roberts’ character’s brief carnival fling. I think my friend and I, along with the rest of the audience in the theater with us, laughed the most whenever he was on screen. “You know what m’sayin’?” Hahaha. Total movie reference. You’ll get it if you decide to see it.
FINAL VERDICT: B-
Be sure to stick around for a little bit as soon as the movie ends. Unless you’re lightning quick, I don’t think you’ll miss it because they pretty much go into the gag reel right away, but just in case, I thought I’d let y’all know that there’s a short reel of hilarious scenes and actually one sweet one that follows immediately after the main feature.
